Message From Amenities Committee RE Abuse of Facilities

FROM THE AMENITIES COMMITTEE:
This past Memorial Day weekend there were some inconsiderate actions by users of the PaaKo pool facilities.  On Saturday afternoon or evening someone using the women’s change room left it in a mess with paper towels scattered and nearly all of the locker doors left open.  There was water all over the room and it was generally left in disarray.  The actions appeared malicious and intentional and were likely done by children.  On Sunday afternoon or evening similar actions were taken in the men’s change room and both showers were left running.
These situations were discovered at closing by community volunteers who help take care of our recreational facilities to keep them available for all to use. The PaaKo pool and other recreational facilities are not commercial entities.  They are jointly owned by all members and volunteers help manage them.  This behavior would be unacceptable in any venue, but they are especially disrespectful in a situation like ours.  Parents should take responsibility for the behavior of their children to ensure that they are respectful of the facilities and of others who use them.  The individuals who help maintain the facilities should not have to clean up after such children.
If your family was at the pool over the Memorial Day weekend and you have daughters who used the change room on Saturday or sons who used the change room on Sunday, you should ask them if they were responsible for these messes. You may contact the sales office if you wish in order to accept responsibility.
Because of our key card system, we know who accessed the pool and the shower rooms during the effective time periods, and the video equipment can confirm identities of people at the pool, but we believe that it is useful to share this report with all members to help eliminate this kind of abuse of our facilities.

Garbage

As reported by a resident, there have been  some minor issues with putting an unsecured garbage bin out on a windy day.  Our winds can be quite strong at times -- strong enough to open the lid of the bin and blow trash out into the road and neighboring yards.

Securing lid with bungee cords or, at least, putting a rock on the lid can help with this issue.  It can also help to keep wild animals out of the trash.

Just for fun, I have attached a photo of a bear cub,  taken at our place in Bozeman, trying to figure out how to get into a trash bin (empty by the way). It's so darn cute, I had to share.
