Important Note From Firewise

The FireWise Program in our Paa-ko community depends on the active participation of each and every resident. My name is Tina Lambert, I am your volunteer liaison for our community. I just want to thank each and everyone who have already sent me their participation hours for this very important program. This participation is vital for us to maintain the qualifications as a FireWise community.  If you haven’t already, please take the time to let me know. so that I may properly document the hours that you have taken to remove shrubs, dead trees, mitigating underbrush, thinning out to ensure that we are all safe from forest fires.

This is from the FireWise website—

The national Firewise USA® recognition program provides a collaborative framework to help neighbors in a geographic area get organized, find direction, and take action to increase the ignition resistance of their homes and community and to reduce wildfire risks at the local level.  Any community that meets a set of voluntary criteria on an annual basis and retains an “In Good Standing Status” may identify itself as being a Firewise® Site.

The Firewise USA® program is administered by NFPA® and is co-sponsored by the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.  While the NFPA® administers this program, individuals and communities participate on a voluntary basis. The NFPA® disclaims liability for any personal injury, property, or other damages of any nature whatsoever, whether special, indirect, consequential or compensatory, directly or indirectly resulting from participation in the Firewise USA® program. The NFPA® also makes no guaranty or warranty as to the accuracy or completeness of program guidance.

Please forward me your hours to tina@lambert-construction.com. Thank you again to all the residents who know and understand how important this program and its guidance is for our beautiful community.

Garbage

As reported by a resident, there have been  some minor issues with putting an unsecured garbage bin out on a windy day.  Our winds can be quite strong at times -- strong enough to open the lid of the bin and blow trash out into the road and neighboring yards.

Securing lid with bungee cords or, at least, putting a rock on the lid can help with this issue.  It can also help to keep wild animals out of the trash.

Just for fun, I have attached a photo of a bear cub,  taken at our place in Bozeman, trying to figure out how to get into a trash bin (empty by the way). It's so darn cute, I had to share.
