Great News from Board of Directors of Paa-Ko Communities Sewer Association

VITAL/TIMELY MESSAGE FOR ALL PCSA MEMBERS - $1,181,000 AWARDED TO PCSA IN GRANT/LOAN FUNDING
Note from Michael Boice - President of PCSA Board of Directors (This is important and exciting!)

As you may already know, last year we received funding from NMED to begin the process of obtaining continued grant/loan funding for needed repairs and upgrades to our fifteen (15) year old Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sewage Collection System.

This included funding for the engineering firm of Molzen Corbin & Assoc. to produce a Preliminary Engineering Report to identify the projected needs over the next ten to fifteen years.

The report was completed last fall which included direction to complete paperwork required to submit our request to the legislature (through the NM legislative capital outlay process) for the 2026 legislative session.

Last week we received the amazing news of not only one, but two award notices: one from the State of New Mexico, and the second from NMED (New Mexico Environmental Department), who funded the PER (professional engineering report). The legislature awarded a Grant of $461,000 and NMED/DFA offered a loan of $576,000 and a grant of $144,000. The loan is at 1% for 20 years.

I am tremendously grateful for the effort made by our board members, our consulting engineer, and especially our district legislative representatives who all worked diligently and tirelessly toward this momentous achievement for the Paa-Ko Sewer Association membership.

Note from East Mountain Wildfire Preparedness Association

From EMWPA:

The National Weather Service published a weather briefing this past Thursday that all of us need to be aware of and prepared for. This next week is going to be a turbulent set of days, maybe not every day, but certainly this could be a time we all need to be aquainted with and ready for. The link to this weather briefing is here: https://emifpa.org/emifpawp/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/SWB_WindSigFireWxPattern_2026March26.pdf

We highly recommend that you take the time to read this weather briefing. As everyone is aware, we are moving into the most dangerous few months for wildfire risk for our EM region.

Passing of Bruce Franks

FROM CHRISTIAN MCMAHON, PRESIDENT, PAA-KO COMMUNITIES HOA

It is with great sadness that I share the passing of Mr Bruce Franks. Bruce was the leader of this community from its inception for 20+ years, and the head of Mountain Ranch, our initial Developer. Bruce worked tirelessly to implement Roger Cox' vision for this wonderful spot in the East Mountains. He held positions of President and Treasurer for the Paa-Ko Communities HOA, Amenities, and Sewer Association. His dedication to this community is felt in every positive aspect of Paa-Ko. Please keep Bruce and his personal and extended families in your thoughts. He will be sorely missed, but remembered with a great fondness.
