Tis the Season....A Note of Caution

This is the time of year when we give Holiday Cheer to those who do services for us like the mailman, the trash collectors, etc.

If you are giving money to the trash collectors, this is a reminder to NOT tape a gift or an envelope with cash in it to the top of the trash bin.  Last year, we had a couple incidents of people stealing the envelopes that were intended for the people who pick up our garbage every week. These envelopes were taped to the trash bin lids, as has been a common practice in years past. Unfortunately, the thieves knew of this practice and the money was stolen. They will be watching again this year.

Please be cautious and alert.  A suggestion might be to either wait for the collectors to come by for your trash, or to search out their truck, and personally hand it to them.

Report to BCSO immediately anyone seen taking the envelopes.  Last year,  a description of the car used and approximate time of day, helped BCSO quickly find the perpetrators using our license plate reader camera system.

WILDFIRE WEDNESDAYS

From EMWPA:

Here's the link to this week's Wildfire Wednesdays #173 newsletter from the Fire Adapted New Mexico Learning Network.

Wildfire Wednesdays #173 highlights landscape-scale prescribed fire successes completed this fall by federal, state, municipal, and tribal fire management agencies and their partners.  The list includes Espinosa northwest of Mountainair, along with prescribed fires on Santa Fe and Carson National Forests and State Trust Land in northern New Mexico.

Note the Borrego Mesa Prescribed Jackpot Burn, a multi-agency project described as "marking one step in rebuilding public trust and safely re-initiating prescribed fire operations" on Santa Fe National Forest following Hermit's Peak-Calf Canyon Fires in 2022.

The newsletter focuses on collaborative efforts to reduce the risk of future catastrophic wildfire, restore fire-adapted ecosystems, develop the future wildfire workforce, and strengthen cross-jurisdictional partnerships.

With spring just a few months away, it's important to BE AWARE and TAKE ACTION TO PREPARE!
