From EMPAC Regarding the Solar Farm

FROM  E M P A C:

A favorite saying of one of our team members is "raindrops make rivers." Thanks to our community's generosity in response to our recent call to match a $10,000 donation, our river is halfway up its bank!  Just $5,000 more, and the $10,000 donation will be matched! Can you help us? Marie Haycock, an East Mountains resident and longtime supporter of EMPAC, generously donated $10,000 to EMPAC to help cover legal fees related to the court case against PCR Energy and Sandoval County, which aims to prevent the development of Diamond Tail Ranch into a large-scale solar power plant.

A reminder that EMPAC is a very small non-profit, all-volunteer, grass-roots organization. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible and will be 1,000,000+% appreciated!"Order Granting Plaintiffs - Appellants "Motion to Stay Zoning Decision" What this means:  The court has approved EMPAC's and other interested parties' request to temporarily halt the enforcement of a zoning decision while the appeal is being considered.  Essentially, Sandoval County and PCR cannot commence with ANY work on the site until the entire appeal process is adjudicated (completed). In summary - this is NOT over! We haven't lost, and we haven't won, either. There will still be a need for legal counsel to prepare for upcoming proceedings. Please click here to donate DONATE

Recent Court Hearing Update

At a recent hearing, the Judge made two significant rulings that we consider positive for EMPAC and other interested parties.
ORDER GRANTING PLAINTIFFS-APPELLANTS MOTIO TO STAY ZONING DECISION
ORDER DENYING SANDOVAL COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MOTION TO DISMISS

Donations Made to BCSO East Area Command

On Tuesday, March 3rd, on behalf of grateful East Mountain residents and businesses, Triangle Grocery, Lantern Ridge, and Whole Foods (on Carlisle) donated food and drinks to the East Area Command Office of the Bernalillo County Sheriff in Tijeras to cover all shifts for a 24-hour period in condolence for the tragic loss of Sergeant Michael Schlattman.

Please remember to thank these businesses for their generous donations when you stop in.  Also, let BCSO know how much you appreciate their service as well as the sacrifices they make every day to keep our community safe.
