Meeting about the Solar Farm Proposal

On October 29 there will be a meeting at Vista Grande Community Center regarding the proposed 1800 acre Solar Farm near Golden.  It will be at 4:30 pm.

It is a question and answer session hosted by PCR Energy to educate the community about solar farms and to listen to community concerns.  They are trying to get the Zoning changed from Ranching to Industrial.  A full house of East Mountain residents is expected as this project can have a large impact on the East Mountains and people have many questions and concerns about this project.

Here is a link to the EMPAC homepage which contains a bit more information.  THEEMPAC.ORG

Session on Chipping Project and Tree Thinning

Cuidad Soil and Water Conservation District will be offering to all homeowners a one hour session on both their chipping project and their tree thinning services.  It will be at the Paa-Ko Event Center on Wednesday, October 30 at 6pm.

Anyone in Paa-ko who is interested in reducing dangerous forest fuels on their lot is invited to attend to learn ways your lot can be protected from wildfire.  A free program for veterans will also be discussed.

--------------

The 3rd chipping event will be on Saturday, November 3 - weather permitting.  This event continues the HOA-sponsored residential cleanup project from the south end of Chaco Loop along Paa-Ko Drive to the southern entrance of Paa-ko.  Chipping will also include any street-side stacks all along Canyon Ridge and its side streets.  The cut ends of branches and trunks need to be pointing to the street.  No fine debris or raked up needles and pine cones will be chipped.  Please do not stack material adjacent to another homeowners lot without their permission.

The next chipping event will be in the northern part of Paa-Ko.

For questions, please call Jim Kelley at 505-239-8552.

September Update from the Paa-Ko Sewer Board

FROM THE PAA-KO COMMUNITIES SEWER ASSOCIATION BOARD:

PCSA September Update

Well, the ordeal continues with the Sewer System Planning RFP. Negotiations with Molzen-Corbin are dragging out because their initial bid was so much higher than we had anticipated. The good news is: because it dragged on so long, the sale by Mountain Ranch, Ltd. of the remaining undeveloped property in Paa-Ko, as well as the developed vacant lots to Steven Chavez of Mesa del Sol was concluded. This clarified a major issue with future plans for expansion of the system. The new owners were kind enough to provide us with a new board member to cover the role due to the recent resignation of our Treasurer.  Jerome Gonzales is now helping the BOD and is giving us clarification as to future growth needed in the system. One of the concerns had been that if Cox sold the Mountain Ranch Properties to a builder of a high density homes, which would have required expansion of the Wastewater treatment facility and, at a cost of several million dollars with significant increases in sewer fees. Jerome has assured us that their expansion will be in very large lots with multimillion dollar homes so no expansion of the plant will be required.

Garbage

As reported by a resident, there have been  some minor issues with putting an unsecured garbage bin out on a windy day.  Our winds can be quite strong at times -- strong enough to open the lid of the bin and blow trash out into the road and neighboring yards.

Securing lid with bungee cords or, at least, putting a rock on the lid can help with this issue.  It can also help to keep wild animals out of the trash.

Just for fun, I have attached a photo of a bear cub,  taken at our place in Bozeman, trying to figure out how to get into a trash bin (empty by the way). It's so darn cute, I had to share.
