Prescribed Burn Scheduled

FROM EMWPA

The Cibola National Forest, Sandia Ranger District, will potentially begin prescribed fire operations next week, as early as Tuesday, October 29. Rest assured that our fire managers who work on the Cibola National Forest are the best in the business, and every precaution will be made to insure the safety of our EM region. No fire will be initiated unless multiple requirements are met, and if any fire is put on the ground, we have the very best wildland firefighters (Mt. Taylor Hotshots) monitoring and staying on the fire until all heat from the fire is cold, dead, and out.

Garbage

As reported by a resident, there have been  some minor issues with putting an unsecured garbage bin out on a windy day.  Our winds can be quite strong at times -- strong enough to open the lid of the bin and blow trash out into the road and neighboring yards.

Securing lid with bungee cords or, at least, putting a rock on the lid can help with this issue.  It can also help to keep wild animals out of the trash.

Just for fun, I have attached a photo of a bear cub,  taken at our place in Bozeman, trying to figure out how to get into a trash bin (empty by the way). It's so darn cute, I had to share.
