FREE GREEN WASTE DAYS

Free Green Waste days are here again.

Drop off is at the East Mountain Transfer Station 711 Hwy. 333 in Tijeras.  Dates are April 21-May 4 from 8 am - 4 pm.

This is an ideal opportunity to do some defensible space work on your property.  Please remember that it is not a good idea to take down any live Pinon Pines at this time, since the Beetles are just starting to emerge, and they will home in on any fresh cut Pinon.  But grasses and Juniper limbs hanging down to the ground are all perfect things to be working on now.  Also, any tree limbs that overhang your roof should be dealt with since they are potential pathways to igniting your home in a wildfire.

Remember, always properly cover your load. There are too many people who do not do this, and driving over all the branches and limbs that blow off these trailers is a huge safety hazard. As you may have noticed, this starts on Monday, April 21st, so make sure that you do not start bringing green waste the weekend before.

Any questions, please call 505-281-9110

Bears and Trash

Several residents have requested this reminder:

With the very strong winds we have been having, as well as the emerging of the bear population, please don't put your trash bins out until day of pickup.  Also, secure the bins against the winds - and the bears.  If you have to leave your bin outside all week, also secure it so the bears don't get in.  A fed bear is a dead bear.

There have been several trash spills in the neighborhood the past couple of weeks.
